Efforts To Mislead Youth, Have Faith On PM Modi: JP Nadda Over Anti-Agnipath Protests

New Delhi: National president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, J P Nadda on Saturday spoke over the nationwide protests taking place against Centre’s new recruitment scheme for the armed forces, Agnipath. Speaking at a party event in Karnataka, Nadda said that youths are being “misled” adding that they should “have faith in PM Modi”.

“I know that efforts are being made to mislead the youth. But I want to tell them to have faith in PM Modi,” he said. “I appeal to them to understand this scheme thoroughly,” Nadda said further.

The protests in many parts of the country especially in Bihar turned violent as protestors vandalised public property and torched trains resulting in cancellation of 369 trains on Saturday.

The army aspirants are protesting against the scheme for its four year duration after which 75 percent of them would be retired without pension or any other social security benefits.

In his address Nadda said that Agnipath is a “revolutionary” scheme which will keep “India’s army strong and high in the world.”

369 trains were cancelled by the Railways on Saturday over the protests that turned violent resulting in torching of trains and blockades on the railway tracks by the protestors.

Of the 369 trains, 210 mail/express trains and 159 local passenger trains were cancelled while two trains were partially cancelled taking the total number of trains affected to 371.
