The aircraft is standing at Raipur airport since August 7, 2015, fare exceeds 2.25 crores in seven years

Bangladeshi Airlines plane going from Dhaka to Muscat is standing at Raipur airport for almost 7 years after making emergency landing in Raipur. Despite changing three airport directors, this plane has not yet left for Bangladesh from Raipur. The cost of the aircraft is around Rs 180 crore.

Parking charge will be paid by selling the aircraft
After writing more than 2 dozen e-mails and pressure from the Ministry of External Affairs, now this foreign airline has assured the Central and Raipur Airport Authority that after selling the aircraft, the airport parking and other charges will be paid. Global online tender will be issued soon to sell this aircraft.

After this, whoever buys the plane will take it with him. On 7 August 2015, the engine of this aircraft going from Dhaka to Muscat had failed. It had 173 passengers on board. In Bemetara, about 90 km from Raipur, a part of the engine broke down due to the fire and fell in the field.

The plane has been standing at the airport for 7 years
In an emergency, the pilot contacted ATC seeking permission for an emergency landing. Since then, the aircraft is still standing in Raipur. The engine of the aircraft has also been changed. Despite this the plane did not return. The airport authority kept on sending reminder mails to take the aircraft, but there was no response. After this, the Union Ministry of External Affairs intervened in this matter, then the company told that the parking fee would be paid by selling the aircraft.

Parking charge is more than 2.25 crores
Only after sending a legal notice to United Airways Company Bangladesh has been informed about the sale of the aircraft on behalf of the company. In seven years, other charges including parking have increased to more than 2.25 crores. This aircraft is MD-83 of United Airways of Bangladesh.

The price of this new aircraft in the market is more than 180 crores. Therefore, it is believed that due to being old, some airline company will buy this aircraft for more than half the price. Raipur Airport will get the parking fee only after the aircraft is sold.

New cafeteria will start this month
Now from this month a new cafeteria is being opened in Raipur Airport for air travelers as well as people coming to pick and drop them.

To open this cafeteria after about three years, an agreement has been signed with the Goa-based company for rent of 90 thousand rupees per month. The company has started interior work in the cafeteria. The people of the city will also be able to go and eat fast food in this restaurant till 9 pm.
