Massive outrage has erupted over a perfume advertisement for allegedly promoting “gang-rape mentality.”
The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal wrote a letter to Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur over the brand’s advertisement. She has asked the Centre to take urgent action in the matter.
Swati Maliwal asked the Centre to build robust systems to ensure certain checks and balances so that such advertisements that promote rape culture are allowed. She said a heavy penalty should be imposed on the brand so that other companies refrain from doing so.
