40 chulhas of Maharasoi of Jagannathpuri temple in Odisha were found damaged. The incident came to light on Sunday morning, when the kitchen was opened for making Sakal Dhoop Prasad. Police and temple administration are investigating the matter. After this incident, there will be some problem in getting Mahaprasad, but the stoves will be corrected within two days.

The breakdown of 40 chulhas of Rosaghar did not affect the traditions of Lord Jagannath temple much, but the ‘Gross Dhoop’ bhog, which was held on Sunday morning, could be made with a delay of half an hour. According to Puri Collector Samarth Verma, the investigation of the case is going on, strict action will be taken against the accused. Along with this, CCTV footage will also be examined to identify the culprits.

According to the temple administration, only the sevadars could be involved in this incident, as only the suras (the cooks) get entry in the kitchen. Therefore, on Saturday night itself, someone must have broken the stove after the traditional dinner was made. The incident has raised questions about the security of the temple.

  • About 300 quintals of rice is made here every day. Which is called Mahaprasad.
