Policewomen Awarded For Outstanding Performance | Surat News – Times of India

SURAT: The city police honoured ‘policewomen’ for their outstanding performance on International Women’s Day by giving them awards in presence of women dignitaries.
Altogether 50 women cops were honoured at the event held at Police Parade Ground in Athwalines. The women cops which were awarded at the event were from different police stations and branches.
In the event, Dr Ritambhara Mehtadean, Government Medical College (GMC), Sharifa Vijliwalahead of department of Gujarati, VNSGU, Geeta Shroffsocial worker and Dr Latika Shah, adolescent health specialist, were present. Women municipal councillors, school principal, teachers and students were also present at the event. Over 700 women and girls took part in the event.
A team of women cops blindfolded displayed their skills of separating and joining different types of automatic weapons like AK-47, 9mm pistol, Insas rifle and CMG rifle.
Addressing the gathering, city police commissioner Ajay Drink described the contribution of women in the society and the work of women police officers. He discussed in detail the work of SHE team and urged participating women to take advantage of various camps organized for the protection of women in Surat city.
“By appreciating women in uniform we want to convey to the society that the women are strong enough and we need to change our approach towards them,” said Tomar.
