mysuru: Unsung Women Felicitated In Mysuru, Several Events Held | Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: Several events were held to mark International Women’s Day in the city on Tuesday. The main event was at JK grounds. Mysuru zilla panchayat in collaboration with the National Rural Livelihood Mission, skill development entrepreneurship and livelihood department, and department of women and child welfare organized a week-long exhibition of the various products made by the women self-help groups. As many as 84 women self-help groups are participating in this exhibition, which will be open from 10am to 7pm.
Women SHGs from all the taluks of Mysuru and several districts are participating in this exhibition. Various hand-made items are being exhibited here. ZP CEO BR Poornima inaugurated the exhibition.
Scion of the Mysuru royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and his wife Trishika Kumari Wadiyar felicitated unsung women as part of the International Women’s Day event held at Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology. On the occasion, a week-long free cancer consultation (March 9 to 15) and mobile bus was also launched.
R Indira, former HOD of sociology department, UOM, Dr YS Madhavi, senior radiation oncologist, Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology, Mangala, a women self-help group leader and Bhudevi, a teacher from Vinayaka Gnana Vidya Shale were felicitated. Dr Ajaikumar, executive chairman of HCG and chairman of Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology presided over.
At Paduvarahalli, locals felicitated women pourakarmikas as part of the celebrations. Local corporator Namrata Ramesh felicitated the pourakarmikas. Free health camps for women were held in several places.
