Encroachments at Vasco market: Locals want MMC to act | Goa News – Times of India

VASCO: Encroachments and obstructions by vendors have again come to the fore at Vasco’s vegetable market, with citizens calling for action.
The Vasco market committee of the Mormugao municipality has been actively carrying out antiencroachment drives. However, during the past few months owing to the state assembly election, the municipality failed to tackle the issue. Citizens said that the market needs to be more organised and made spacious for free movement of shoppers.
“Now that the elections are over, things need to fall back on track. Such illegalities must be cleared immediately,” said Saurabh, a shopper. The Vasco market committee of Mormugao municipality had assured to clear the encroachments at the market on priority. Vasco market committee in-charge, Mathias Monteiro, said that he along with other committee members undertook several drives in the past to clear encroachments on the market road.
