Nearly two months after singer Chris Doughtry’s step-daughter Hannah Price died at only 25 years old, the family confirmed that her cause of death was due to suicide.

Statements from Doughty and her family revealed that Price had been battling mental illness from a young age and had been ‘in and out of medical and treatment centers’ for many years.
The family statement continued, ‘As Hannah struggled to find her footing, she began using drugs and often found herself in abusive relationships.
“Just a few months after losing her biological father to suicide, Hannah was the victim of a crime and was shot in the face,” he said.

She told them that her boyfriend physically abused her and took their car, with the family calling the Fentress County Police Department to do a wellness check.

Authorities determined there was no evidence of dishonesty, which comes months after Hannah’s mother, Dina Doughty, 48, dismissed rumors that her death was being investigated as a homicide.
‘Hannah was a generous and loving person who wanted more for herself and others. She will always be in the hearts and minds of those of us who love her,’ the statement continued.
