COIMBATORE: A private helicopter hired from Bengaluru by a couple to reach Kochi in Kerala made an emergency landing on farmland in Erode district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday morning due to bad weather.
Police sources said the pilot experienced bad weather while flying over the Sathyamangalam forest around 10.30am. The helicopter landed safely on farmland at Athiyur near Kadambur.
The couple, a pilot and an engineer were onboard the helicopter. The couple were going to Kerala for treatment.
A large number of villagers gathered near the helicopter. Police personnel were deployed to safeguard the helicopter.
The helicopter took off around 2.15pm after the weather turned favourable.
