Police vacated Shimla’s Ridge Ground
Tourists thronged the historic Ridge Maidan in Himachal’s Shimla at 7.30 pm on Friday for the New Year celebrations. The grounds were completely filled with tourists. In view of this, the district administration ordered to vacate the ridge ground. After this the police got the grounds vacated and told the tourists that they can roam here in the morning. Heavy police force has been deployed in the ground now.
Shimla Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi said that wherever there was a crowd, that place was evacuated. More than 20 thousand people had come to Shimla on Friday. The ridge and other sites have been evacuated to reduce the risk of Omicron’s threat.
Police vacated Shimla’s Ridge Ground
From showing the way to the tourists, the police were busy in telling the place for parking. There were long queues of vehicles on the road from Lakkar Bazar, Sanjauli, Dhali to every place. By 4.30 pm, tourists had reached Shimla in more than 4,000 vehicles. Even after this, the flow of tourists continued.
The city is divided into 6 sectors
The district administration had divided the entire city into 6 sectors so that the tourists do not face any problem. The duty of an administrative officer was imposed in every sector, who was looking after the entire law and order system, from traffic and parking. To make the tourists aware of the rules of Corona, more than 450 police personnel were deployed across the city to instruct them to wear masks and follow the rules of physical distance. All the field roads were also opened for parking so that there is no traffic jam in the city.
