Google may give Android users the option to choose languages in every app – Times of India

Google is working on a new language feature that is expected to be released with Android 13. This feature is also code-named as “Panlingual” and is expected to enable Android 13 users to select a different language for each app installed on their devices, reports Android Police.
For example, if a user uses English as their Android system language, will be able to use this feature to use Spanish for their social media apps without changing the system settings or even the settings of other apps. Again, if the user’s work prompts the use of a foreign language, they can set the work apps to that particular language while keeping the other apps in their native language, the report adds.
The new Panlingual feature is still in its early development stages and might even change in the coming years. The report adds information about where users will be able to find it once Google rolls it out. The report says that the Panlingual option is expected to be available on the “App info” menu or will be added in a new “App languages” menu which are usually present in the “Language & input” page in Settings.
Google will allow users to change app language preferences from a single location as it is expected to be added as a separate setting. This will save the users’ time from having to change the language of each app individually.
The apps in which the users want to change the language need to support other languages. If the app supports only one language then this feature won’t be of much use. However, Google has added support for inline translation with Android 12 and it may be possible for Android to translate apps on its own even if the app developers don’t add other languages in the future.
Presently, the Android apps set their language by using the system settings. If an app supports multiple languages, users can choose a language that needs searching for the correct option among several menus within the app itself. This is an exhaustive way to select languages at this point but hopefully, with Panlingual, Google will be able to fix this inconvenience for Android users.
