West Bengal: One held for bombing in Beliaghata | Kolkata News – Times of India

KOLKATA: Cops have arrested one person in the bombing incident outside a polling premises on the Beliaghata Main Road on Sunday morning. Though no one was injured in the incident, the two bombs lobbed by the accused were enough to scare away voters. DC (ESD) Priyabrata Roy confirmed the arrest but refused to share the name of the accused.
Police said they have identified two other men who were involved in a similar incident outside Taki Boys School at Sealdah that left three persons injured. “Raids are on in the Phoolbagan-Narkeldanga-Rajabazar area for two other accused. Two persons have already been arrested in this regard,” an officer said.
Fresh complaints have come in from various parts of the city on Sunday night. The BJP has alleged that four persons, including a candidate’s son-inlaw, were allegedly dragged from a booth on CIT Road and assaulted. One of them reportedly received injuries on eyes. Trinamool Congress and cops, though, claimed that there was no such complaint. An independent candidate in Haridevpur was allegedly attacked and his bike vandalized. All political parties have denied any knowledge of the incident.
Commissioner Soumen Mitra, meanwhile, held a meeting on Monday evening briefing how to ensure peace in the pockets where there is tension.
