BJP received 76 per cent of the total donations through electoral trusts in 2019-20; JSW Steel Largest Contributor: AD

New Delhi: According to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received over 76 per cent of the donations given to parties by electoral trusts in 2019-20.

This came to the fore when the electoral trusts submitted their annual reports for 2019-2020 to the Election Commission of India.

As per the ADR report, 14 of the 21 registered trusts submitted their annual reports to the Election Commission and seven of them declared that they had received money which was then given to the parties.

The seven electoral trusts analyzed received a total of Rs 363.51 crore from various corporates and individuals.

As per the ADR report, the trusts gave a total of Rs 362.91 crore to political parties, with the BJP getting the largest share, followed by the Congress with Rs 31 crore, and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Got it. ) which got Rs 11.26 crore.

Prudent Electoral Trust contributed Rs 271.5 crore, Jankalyan Electoral Trust contributed Rs 70.95 crore and AB General Electoral Trust contributed Rs 10 crore.

The ADR report said JSW Steel Ltd contributed the highest among all the donors to electoral trusts at Rs 39.10 crore, followed by Apollo Tires Ltd at Rs 30 crore and Indiabulls Infrastate Ltd at Rs 25 crore.

The report further stated that Paribartan Electoral Trust announced a donation of Rs 3 crore to a party through electoral bonds. However, the name of the party was not disclosed.
