iPhone 17 Tipped To Bring Much-Requested Feature. Check Out What It Is

iPhone 16 series is now official. So, the tech world is understandably abuzz with the next version of Apple’s flagship offering – iPhone 17. Industry insider Ross Young, known for usually accurate predictions about Apple displays, has shared that the iPhone 17 could come equipped with ProMotion technology, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate – something that fans and critics have been demanding of Apple over the last few years.

Previously exclusive to the Pro models, this upgrade is expected to make its way to the standard models, offering smoother scrolling and enhanced video playback, according to MacRumors. This would mark a significant leap from the current 60Hz refresh rate seen in the base models.

iPhone 17 May Get Lower Refresh Rates As Well

Another notable detail is the potential for the display to adapt to lower refresh rates for improved battery efficiency, similar to the always-on capabilities of the Pro versions. With these features originally anticipated for the iPhone 16, the iPhone 17’s display advancements may encourage some users to delay their upgrades until 2025.

Ross Young, who correctly predicted the iPhone 16 Pro’s larger screen sizes, has further fueled excitement with this leak. Though it’s unclear if the iPhone 17 will offer the full range of refresh rates, including 10Hz or 1Hz, the inclusion of ProMotion is enough to make waves.

iPhone 17 Air on The Cards?

Along with the standard and Pro models, Apple is rumoured to introduce a new “iPhone 17 Air” model next year.

This variant is expected to be slimmer, equipped with a 120Hz display, and serve as a potential replacement for the Plus series, which may be phased out after the iPhone 16 Plus.

The official unveiling of the iPhone 17 lineup is anticipated in September 2025.
