Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kyiv on Friday after travelling from Poland, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine since its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. Modi’s day-long historic visit includes meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and a tour of key locations. Upon reaching Kyiv Central Station after a 10-hour train journey from Poland, Modi was welcomed by Ukrainian officials. He first visited the Ukraine National Museum to honour children who died due to the Russian invasion. Modi then proceeded to AV Fomin Botanical Garden to pay tribute at the bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi. This visit underscores India’s engagement with Ukraine amid ongoing conflict.
