The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has announced the notification for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024. According to the official schedule, the registration process for CAT 2024 will commence on August 1, 2024. Eligible candidates can review the official schedule and register for the exam on the official CAT 2024 portal at iimcat.ac.in. The application deadline is September 13, 2024.
This year, the CAT 2024 is scheduled to take place on November 24 in three sessions and it will be held in computer-based exam mode. Test centres located across 170 cities will host the exam. Candidates may choose from among any five exam cities, in any sequence of their choosing. As per the CAT authorities, the list of cities could be modified.
IIM Calcutta will release the admit cards for the CAT 2024 exam from November 5 to November 24. It is anticipated that the CAT 2024 results will be made public around the second week of January 2025.
CAT 2024: Educational Qualification
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50 per cent of the possible points, or a comparable CGPA. Candidates from Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Persons with Disability (PwD) groups must meet a minimum of 45 per cent of the requirements.
CAT 2024: How to Apply?
Step 1. Go to the CAT official webpage, iimcat.ac.in.
Step 2. Click on the “New Candidate Registration” link should be clicked.
Step 3. Enter the necessary details to register.
Step 4. Now log in with the credentials and enter your academic and personal information.
Step 5. Choose the preferred IIMs and programmes according to your choice.
Step 6. Select the cities for the exam according to your choice.
Step 7. Upload the required copies and pay the application fee.
Step 8. Review your application and click on submit.
Step 9. Download the application confirmation page for your records.
CAT 2024: Application Fee
To finish the registration process, candidates must pay the CAT 2024 application cost. For candidates in the general category who fall under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), the application fee is Rs 2,500. On the other hand, candidates who fall under the categories of Person with Disabilities (PwD), Scheduled Caste, or Scheduled Tribe must pay the Rs 1,250 registration fee for CAT 2024.
CAT 2024: Exam Process
According to previous patterns, the CAT 2024 exam will be administered in three shifts, the first from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, the second from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, and the third from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The CAT 2024 exam will consist of three parts including, quantitative aptitude (QA), data interpretation and logical reasoning (DILR), and verbal ability and reading comprehension (VARC). The CAT 2024 paper will consist of 66 questions in total. Candidates will receive three marks for each right response and one mark will be subtracted for each incorrect response under the CAT 2024 grading methodology. Negative points won’t be deducted for wrong responses.
