Due to the negligence of the officers of the Food Supply Department, in December 2022, 4.50 lakh quintals of food grains given free to the consumer under Pradhan Mantri Jan Kalyan Yojana (PMJKY) and One Nation-One Ration Card (ONOR) scheme lapsed in Delhi. In such a situation it could not reach the poor.

This grain worth about Rs 150 crore, which has lapsed in the central government godown itself, was to be distributed under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana and the One Nation-One Ration Card scheme of October, November and December 2022.

In this matter, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Ramveer Singh Bidhuri has written a letter to LG VK Saxena of Delhi, demanding that lapsed food grains worth Rs 150 crore should be procured from Delhi government’s accounts and distributed to the needy people.

Bidhuri said that the center had also given a reminder to the Delhi government in December for not lifting ration from the central government godown on behalf of the Delhi government. In response to this, the officers of Food Supply Department of Delhi Government had also assured to raise ration.

Grain did not reach two thousand shopkeepers
In December 22, the officials of Food Supply Department of Delhi Government could not deliver 4.50 quintals of PMJKY and One Nation One Ration Card Yojana food grains to 2000 shops from central government godowns to government shops, due to which ration shopkeepers of Delhi lost Rs 9 crore. Have suffered financial loss. Had this distribution of ration been done, the shopkeepers would have got a commission of Rs 9 crore.

There was a dispute between the transporters
It is being claimed that the officials of the Food Supply Department of the Delhi government, against the NGT order, have given the work of carrying ration to diesel vehicles instead of CNG, leading to a dispute among the transporters and a transporter has gone to court. The transporter engaged in the work went on strike.

In such a situation, the officers of the Food Supply Department of the Delhi government should have taken trucks on rent and delivered 4.50 quintals of food grains from the godowns of the center to 2000 ration shops in Delhi on time. Bidhuri claimed that along with transportation and shopkeeper’s commission, the center also gives food grains free of cost.

Responsible did not come forward to give favor
In this regard, Dilraj Kaur, the head of the Food Supply Department of the Delhi government, is on leave. Bhaskar also sought the department’s stand on these serious allegations of BJP from Sushil Kumar, Special Commissioner, Food Supply Department of Delhi Government, which could not be found.

What is the rule According to the PMJKY Act, if the state government is not able to pick up ration from the central godown and reach the shops, then the food grains get lapsed. In such a situation, the state government will have to deliver grains equal to the value of lapsed grains or its cash to the accounts of PMJKY ration holders.
