’83: Kabir Khan’s Ranveer Singh starrer declared tax-free in Delhi – Times of India

Ranveer Singh is currently gearing up for the release of ’83. Helmed by Kabir Khan, the film revolves around India’s historical 1983 cricket World Cup win. Recently, the state government in Delhi declared ‘83 tax-free.

Yes, you heard that right. The film also stars actors Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Addinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R Badree. Deepika Padukone will be seen playing a special role in the film. She is essaying the role of Kapil’s wife, Romi Dev.

Director Kabir had exclusively told ETimes, “You know, 83 is a big responsibility for me. I knew if I don’t recreate this correctly, the country will not forgive me. Ditto for Ranveer: If he won’t portray Kapil correctly, the audience will not forgive him. And as you see from the trailer, he has done it brilliantly. He worked very hard.”

’83 stars Ranveer Singh in the role of former Indian captain Kapil Dev, who led the winning squad. ETimes has exclusively learnt that Mohinder Amarnath, who was the vice-captain of the winning team, will be a part of the sports entertainer. He will not be essaying himself in ’83, but will be seen playing the role of his father Lala Amarnath.

The film is set to hit the big screen on December 24.
