6-year-old child fell into borewell, rescue continues: Pulled 12 feet up with a rope in his hand, then stuck there

A 6-year-old boy has fallen into a borewell in Betul’s Mandvi village. The child is trapped in the bore at a depth of 53 feet. Till now a pit 30 feet deep has been dug. Rescue operation is going on to take out the child. With the help of three JCB machines, a parallel pit is being dug 30 feet away from the borewell.

Collector Amanveer Singh Bains told that an attempt was made to pull the child up by tying a rope in his hand, he had also come up about 12 feet. But in the meantime the rope opened and he got stuck there. An attempt is being made to remove the child by starting the work of digging a new pit on the side from 12 o’clock in the night. The excavation work was stopped while the rope was pulled. At present, there is no visible movement in the child at all.

The accident took place on Tuesday evening around 5 pm in Mandvi village of Aathner in Betul district. According to preliminary information, Tanmay was playing in the field. Probably during this time he tried to peep into the borewell and fell into it after losing his balance. When the child was not seen, everyone ran towards the borewell. On sounding, the child’s voice came from inside the borewell. On this, the family members immediately informed the Betul and Aathner police.

After the rescue started, first an oxygen pipe was inserted in the borewell for the child, then a CCTV camera was inserted. SDERF teams are present on the spot. To retrieve the child, parallel digging has been started with a bulldozer about 30 feet away from the borewell. When the father talked to the child, he said – it is very dark here. Three JCBs involved in the rescue
Collector Betul Amanveer Singh Bains told that efforts have been started to rescue the child. Three JCB machines are present on the spot. As soon as the incident was known, Tehsildar was immediately sent to the spot.

  • The work of digging the second pit was started at around 12.30 pm. Due to the presence of stones in the first pit, the work of digging the second pit was started.
