4 Held For Killing Monk, Dumping His Body In Canal Near Jetpur | Rajkot News – Times of India

RAJKOT: Four people have been arrested for allegedly murdering a monk, whose body was found from a canal near Jetpur town of Rajkot district on March 4. The deceased was identified as Rudrananad Turns54, who had established a Shiva temple near Bilkha in Junagadh district.
Local crime branch (LCB) sleuths scanned CCTV footage of the highway and internal roads and traced a car belonging to Jayesh Dave, a former scribe who now runs a canteen in Rajkot collector office. They detained Dave who confessed to the crime and revealed names of his accomplices Vijay VaghasiyaDarshak Degama and Dinesh Bhadani.
LCB’s Ajaysinh Gohil told TOI that Vaghasiya got in touch with Rudranand Giri who had knowledge about ayurvedic medicines and was also active in stock market. “Vaghasiya had lent Rs 2.5 lakh to the monk to invest in stocks. He returned Rs 50,000 but was dilly dallying in the repayment of the remaining amount,” Gohil said.
On March 3, the four accused went to Giri’s Bilkha ashram in Dave’s car to ask for the remaining Rs 2 lakh. This led to a bitter altercation after which they strangled Giri and then dumped his body in a canal near Jetpur. Gohil also said deceased had filed several RTIs and complaints with charity commissioner in Uttar Pradesh against heads of UP temples, claiming his ownership.
