As soon as the power in Punjab changed, 4 former Congress ministers were in trouble for corruption. Former Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has been arrested. Another former forest minister Sangat Singh Giljian is on the hunt. Investigation has started against former Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Bajwa. At the same time, former Food Supply Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu has come on the radar regarding the tender in the Food Supply Department. Before the by-election in Sangrur Lok Sabha seat, this action of the AAP government has become a tension for the Congress.

These former ministers of Congress are on target

  • Sadhu Singh Dharamsot: Dharamsot was the Minister of Forests in the government of Captain Amarinder Singh. He is accused of taking a bribe of Rs 500 in exchange for felling a tree. In about 4 and a half years, he earned 1.25 crores from it. In lieu of transfer-posting in the department, bribe ranging from 5 to 20 lakh was recovered. Vigilance Bureau first arrested Dharamsot after the statement of the arrested contractor and forest officer. He is on police remand now.
  • Sangat Singh Giljian: When Charanjit Channi became the CM instead of the Captain, Dharamsot was removed from the cabinet. In his place, Sangat Singh Giljian became the Minister of Forests. It is alleged that there has been a scam of about 6.15 crores in the purchase of tree guards. The Vigilance Bureau is looking for them.
  • Tript Rajinder Bajwa: Tript Rajinder Bajwa is accused of 28 crore scam by signing the file despite the election results. AAP government’s Panchayat Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal said that there was a scam in 41 acres of Panchayati land located on GT Road in Amritsar. For this, the government has formed an inquiry committee. Bajwa said that it should be probed by a High Court judge.
  • Bharat Bhushan Ashu: Ashu is being accused of a tender scam of Rs 2,000 crore. Vigilance is probing it. Ashu was accused by small contractors of malpractices in the labor and transportation tenders in the mandis of Punjab. 20-25 people were benefitted by ignoring small contractors. However, Ashu says that this tender is allotted by committees headed by DC. Charges are being made against him under conspiracy.
