Authorities said the three children fled the Los Angeles-area home where their mother and her boyfriend died in an apparent murder-suicide on New Year’s Day.
Sheriff’s Lieutenant Derrick Alfred said the deputy who responded to calls for domestic violence at the Temple City residence found three boys aged 5 to 11 running around 7 a.m. on Sunday.
Alfred told a Southern California newsgroup that the boys suffered no physical injuries.
Alfred said that inside the house the deputy found a 27-year-old woman shot several times. He said the 28-year-old had a wound of his own in the head. Both died on the spot. Their names were not immediately released.
One of the kids called 911. Alfred said he did not know whether the call came before or after the woman was shot.
He said, ‘It is a very sad situation.
Alfred said that the woman is the mother of three children. She had a boyfriend for almost a year, the man was not of boys.
