After two days of snowfall in Himachal, the weather will remain clear across the state for the next 72 hours from today. But, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall again on 18th and 19th. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog and cold wave in the plains.

Movement of people has been affected following fresh snowfall in the higher reaches during the last 48 hours. 276 roads including 4 National and 2 State Highways are closed. Due to this, transport services have been disrupted on more than 220 routes. Because of this, especially patients and pregnant women are facing difficulty in reaching the hospital.

Due to the accumulation of snow, the road has frozen like glass. This has increased the slippery on the roads. PWD has also opened some roads for traffic, but travel on them can still be risky. In view of this, the government has issued an advisory to everyone to drive carefully.

Food items of daily consumption did not reach these areas
Due to the closure of the roads, the supply of daily consumption food items like milk, bread, curd, butter and vegetables could not reach the upper Shimla, Pangi, Bharmour, Manali, Lahaul Spiti etc. areas. Even today there is little hope of their supply in many areas.

Power failure in dozens of villages
People in dozens of villages are in the dark after the snowfall. 276 electrical transformers (DTR) are lying closed across the state. The severe cold without electricity has increased the difficulties of the people.

Undoubtedly, snowfall increases the difficulties for the people for a few days, but it will act as a tonic for the agriculture, horticulture and tourism industry of the state.
