After 16 years, 6 months and 9 days in the Karontha incident of Rohtak, Haryana, the court has given its verdict on Tuesday. In which 24 including Rampal, director of Satlok Ashram Karontha, were acquitted in the absence of eyewitnesses. At the same time, 3 people have been sentenced to 2-2 years under the Arms Act.

A case was registered against a total of 38 people in the Karontha incident that took place about 16 and a half years ago. Out of which 5 accused have died. At the same time, 6 accused were declared absconders, out of which one of the accused Rampal’s brother Mahendra was arrested by the police, Mahendra’s decision is yet to come. None of the 78 witnesses were eyewitnesses : There were a total of 78 witnesses in this case, out of which 26 were from the public. None of the witnesses has stated that the person who died or the person who got hurt was shot by the accused. 14 weapons were recovered from 27 accused. Not even a single bullet hit the dead or the injured.

Bullets did not match: Advocate JK Gakkar said that two bullets, which were of 315 bore, had come out from the body of the deceased. At the same time, all the weapons including 2 weapons of 315 bore found with the accused were sent to the Madhuban lab. According to the lab report, the bullet found from the body of the deceased does not match with any weapon.

8 witnesses said: Many injured in the clash between the crowd and the police: The lawyer said that none of the witnesses in this case said that the bullet that killed Sonu was fired by Rampal or by any other accused. In this case, 8 accused said in the open court that many people were injured due to the clash between the police and the mob.

Three sentenced to 2-2 years
A total of 62 people were injured in the Karontha incident. One of whom Sonu died due to bullet injury. There were 27 accused on Tuesday, out of which 3 have been sentenced to 2-2 years under the Arms Act. Because the weapon they had belonged to others and they did not get any license. On the other hand, the court acquitted 24 accused including Rampal.

A case was registered on July 12, 2006 under other sections including murder. On the other hand, Rampal, director of Satlok Ashram Karontha and other companions were arrested on July 13, 2006.
