There is a deluge-like situation in North-West India due to incessant rains since 6 days. So far 100 deaths have been reported due to rain across the country including Himachal, Uttarakhand, Delhi, UP and Punjab. At the same time, in the last 24 hours, there have been 56 deaths in different incidents of landslides and floods in seven states. Maximum 34 deaths have occurred.

Himachal has the worst conditions. Here, 12 inches of rain fell in 3 days, which is 10 times more than normal. The mountains are cracking here. Landslides are collapsing houses and bridges. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains in 24 states including Rajasthan-MP in the next 24 hours. At the same time, till July 12, red alert has been issued in 10 out of 12 districts in Himachal.

The water level of the Yamuna river in Delhi has crossed the danger mark. The water of the river was flowing at 205.76 meters till 8 pm on Monday. CM Kejriwal said- Our system was not made for such rain. At this time all the states have to work together.

PM Narendra Modi has spoken to ministers and officials regarding the flood and rain situation. According to the PMO, the administration and teams of NDRF and SDRF are involved in the rescue.

On June 10, where there was 60% rainfall deficit across the country, it is now 2% more than normal. Till July 10, the normal rainfall was 248 mm. Now the figure has crossed it to 254 mm, which is 2% more.

Monsoon-Western Disturbance collided in Himachal, hence the devastation
Monsoon in North India received torrential rains for the last three days due to Western Disturbances. Since both the big weather systems collided in Himachal, the maximum impact was seen there. The western Himalayan region of the country receives heavy rains whenever the monsoon and western disturbance meet. Western Disturbances usually occur three to four times a month during November to March and bring snowfall in the mountains. Then their number decreases.

Heavy rain will occur in these states: Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha

Light rain will occur in these states: Light rain with lightning may occur over Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

  • So far 23 people have died in Himachal due to rains, floods and landslides this season. A total of 1300 roads have been affected in Himachal, including National Highways and Link Roads.
  • All government, aided and private schools will remain closed in Punjab till July 13.
  • The Amarnath Yatra has been stopped on its way to Jammu for the fourth consecutive day i.e. on July 11.
  • All schools were closed in Chandigarh till 13 July.
