18,000 vacancies in teacher recruitment! After Mamata’s comments, the High Court asked for the full list

Calcutta High Court has summoned the list of 18,000 vacancies for the recruitment of teachers in West Bengal. Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay asked to submit the complete list by July 29 (Friday).

On Monday, Justice Gangopadhyay said that it has been heard from media sources that it is being claimed that the vacancies for the appointment of teachers cannot be filled because of the court. In that situation, the judge asked the principal secretary of the education department to submit the list by July 29 as to how many vacancies there are for the recruitment of teachers at the primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary levels in West Bengal. In case of recruitment of librarians, even if there are vacancies, it is directed to notify. Justice Gangopadhyay said, ‘I want to know how many vacancies there are for the unemployed.’

Trinamool Congress supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed from this year’s rally on July 1st, ‘17,000 posts are ready for the recruitment of teachers. I cannot appoint because the case is going on in the court.’ He also said, ‘We want jobs, BJP wants jobs. BJP is biting kutus-kutus.’ However, it is not known whether the High Court has ordered the submission of the list in view of that comment.
