Violence has been going on since May 3 in the Kuki and Meitei communities over reservation. So far 135 people have died in this.

More than 2 months have passed since violence broke out between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur. So far, more than 135 people have died in the violence that started on May 3, while more than 420 people have been injured.

The main reason for the Manipur violence is a High Court order. In this order, the Manipur High Court recommended ST status to the Meitei community of the state. In protest against this order, a march was called by the Kuki community on 3 May. Violence started in the state with this march.

The Supreme Court on Monday asked the state government to file an updated status report on the violence. The next hearing in the case will be on July 10. Earlier, the Supreme Court had termed the High Court’s decision as wrong.
